From glittering dunes to timeless ruins – adventure and history in one journey.

Some adventures in Malindi feel like a story unfolding in chapters—and last weekend, ours began with whispers of history and ended with golden dreams.

We kicked off the morning at the Gede Ruins, one of Kenya’s national heritage sites. This 12th-century Swahili settlement is filled with coral-stone mosques, ancient homes, and winding alleyways that still seem to hum with life from centuries past. Walking under the shade of giant trees, our group was transported back in time.

But here’s the fun twist: Gede isn’t only about stone walls and history lessons. The site is alive with cheeky, photogenic monkeys who know how to steal the spotlight. Buy a handful of peanuts from the locals at the gate and you’ll have instant furry friends—perfect for a picture (and a laugh or two). Between posing with monkeys and soaking in the mystery of the ruins, it was the kind of morning that makes history come alive.

By late afternoon, we swapped history for glamour and set out to the Mambrui Dunes, affectionately known as “Dubai Ndogo.” And yes, it absolutely lives up to the name. Here, endless golden dunes glitter in the sun as if dusted with gold, sloping gently into the turquoise waves of the Indian Ocean. It’s a surreal sight—half desert, half beach, all magic.

And Mambrui isn’t just for admiring. Think quad bike rides across the sand dunes, golden-hour photography sessions, and simply letting the ocean breeze carry the day away. As the sun began to set, painting the dunes in fiery reds and soft pinks, it felt like Malindi had pulled out her most glamorous dress just for us.

At Eon Realty, we believe Malindi isn’t just a place to live or visit—it’s a story waiting to be experienced. That’s why beyond real estate and holiday stays, we also offer guided tours, curated excursions, and bespoke travel experiences. From feeding monkeys at Gede to chasing sunsets at Mambrui, we’re here to show you the Malindi that locals love and travelers dream about.

📌 What’s next? Soon, we’ll be running weekly trips so you can easily join the adventure. Or, if you’d like something private and personal, we’ll plan it just for you.

Because life’s too short not to explore ruins by day and dunes at sunset. 🌴✨
